
In this WebQuest, you will perform research on malicious code and report your findings in different ways. First, you will identify the types of malicious code, describe what they do and how they work, as well as explain the differences between them. Then you will put yourself in the shoes of a person who writes malicious code. What kind of person writes destructive programs? What are the consequences to computer users, society, and possibly yourself?
Third, you will find out how to prevent malicious code from harming your computer, and how to respond when your computer is attacked. Finally, you will examine the real cost of malicious code by finding out what it takes to protect a small business, and how expensive it can be.
During this WebQuest, you will be learning several things. First, you will be gaining technical knowledge about how malicious code works and how it is counteracted. Second, you will be examining the ethical implications of writing and releasing malicious code. Third, you will be evaluating the impact of malicious code on society in general, and business in particular.
